Matthew Williams-Ellis
“To me, interesting light is equally as important as the subject itself. There is no better feeling than calmly watching wildlife, observing their behaviour and looking for eye-catching compositions, waiting for the light to be at its best. That moment when you know you’ve captured a great shot is hard to beat!”
Matthew Williams-Ellis is an award-winning wildlife, landscape and travel photographer based in London. Matthew loves spending as much time as possible exploring the world, both on assignment, and working on personal projects.
Most recently, Matthew has been producing a collection of images from the Laikipia Region of Kenya, copies of which have been donated to charities such as Inspire Malawi. His lockdown project was the deer of Richmond Park, close to where he lives, documenting the deer rut and capturing images of the wildlife there in all manner of weather.
Matthew leads regular photography workshops in London, and wildlife, travel and landscape photography holidays to destinations including Madagascar, Costa Rica, Skomer Island and Romania. He also gives talks, and shoots and presents ‘Photo Escapes’, a Youtube channel creating cinematic short films that offer the viewer a behind the scenes insight into what goes into creating his images.
